Deepening connectivity between Greece and Bulgaria is key for the Southeast region, said Foreign Minister Gabriel
Deepening connectivity between Greece and Bulgaria is key for the South East region, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mariya Gabriel, told a media briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 27. She had a one-to-one meeting with her Greek counterpart, Giorgos Gerapetritis, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria.
Gabriel said they discussed deepening relations between the two countries in areas such as energy and infrastructure.
She noted that support for the Three Seas Initiative was also confirmed.
Bulgaria's full accession to Schengen will give a further boost to relations between the two countries, Greek Foreign Minister said after the meeting.
Gerapetritis highlighted Bulgaria's successes in terms of Schengen.
Greece and Bulgaria share an exchange in terms of the movement of people, he said, adding that people-to-people contact is very important and we can develop cultural and academic exchanges.
