Diana Kovacheva was approved by Parliament on 27th of January as the Deputy Ombudsman of Bulgaria. She was unanimously elected for the post. 152 MPs voted in favour.
Her candidacy was proposed after a public hearing in the Ombudsman’s Office on 13th of January. Among the 5 candidates, nominated by NGOs, Diana Kovatcheva was ranked first with 22 points. She was nominated by “Transparency International”.
Diana Kovacheva holds a degree in law and an MA degree in European Union law.
She also did a doctorate in International Law and International Relations and has specialised in the field of human rights.
Diana Kovacheva was minister of justice in the period 2011-2013.
