Director-Generals of Bulgaria’s and Romania’s public service broadcasters discussed mutual cooperation between the two TV networks

Co-productions and exchange of programmes between BNT and the Romanian public service broadcaster were discussed by the general directors of the two media on February 5.

According to the BNT Director General, Emil Koshlukov, Bulgaria is better known in Romania because of the many Romanian tourists who visit the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, while we know very little about them. Folklore, history, cuisine, geography are areas where we can get to know each other better and this is the task of the public service broadcaster, BNT Director-General said.

"Russe is a huge city in Bulgaria and the capital city closest to it (60 km away) is Bucharest in Romania, not Sofia. But if we ask ten people on the street what the name of the mayor of Bucharest is - they would not know. And they need to, because they work with Bucharest, they have business with Bucharest. Russe to a large extent is supported by Romanians. We need to know more about both countries. My second goal is to try to do co-productions, joint series, films, exchange of productions, of shows," BNT Director-General, Emil Koshlukov, said.

"I think it is very important for the Romanian public service broadcaster and the Bulgarian National Television to cooperate, to share information, news that is interesting for both Romanian and Bulgarian viewers. You know that sometimes our news is focused more on international events and less on regional. But local news is more important for people's daily lives than international news," said Romanian Public Television Director-General, Dan Cristian Turturica.
