Eight teachers from a school in Sofia tested positive for coronavirus
Eight teachers from Sofia's 55th “Petko Karavelov” school in Sofia have tested positive for COVID-19, the regional health inspectorate (RHI) and Sofia municipality told BNT on September 16. After one of the teachers initially turned out to be a carrier of the disease, the entire staff was tested and the number of the infected rose to 8.
Tomorrow, children who have been in contact with the teachers will be tested. The parents will not be tested for the time being.
On September 12 (Saturday), the hea dof the school, Tanya Ivancheva, was informed that her colleague was infected with COVID-19 and had a positive test. She says that he did not show any symptoms and he himself went for a test just to check, but the version of the Sofia RHI is different - they say that the teacher felt sick and that is why he went for a test.
Then on Monday, 20 contact persons were tested, who were the closest persons to the teacher. They did not give a positive result. Then on Tuesday tests were conducted of all staff, about 130 people. Seven tested positive for the virus. None of them has symptoms, the head of the school told BNT.
The school continues to operate in strict compliance with the Covid-19 anti-epidemic measures.
