Extra seats on trains and buses will be provided over the Christmas and New Year holidays

The Bulgarian Railway Company, "BDZ - Passenger Transport", will provide additional 17,000 seats during the Christmas holidays.

The company will add extra carriages to trains travelling along the busiest routes in the country to ensure the comfortable trip of the passengers during the holiday period.

More passengers are also expected at bus stations. Additional 70 buses will be provided at Sofia Central Bus Station for Friday and Saturday.

Unlike train tickets, bus tickets will be more expensive this year. For some destinations, the price increase will be by BGN 8 - 9. Carriers recommend passengers to buy tickets a little earlier than the day of travel in order to be sure they can get the tickets. You can also buy tickets online.

Additional carriages to trains will be provided for the routes:

Sofia – Pleven – Varna

Sofia – Vratsa – Vidin

Sofia – Plovdiv – Burgas

Sofia – Karlovo - Burgas

"In total, for the holidays, we plan to provide about 17,000 additional seats, with 900 of them in sleeping cars. There will be additional sleeping cars for Varna, Dobrich and Burgas as well", assured Ivaylo Georgiev, Directorate of "Sales and Service" at BDZ.

More passengers are also expected at the bus stations. More than 70 extra buses will be provided especially at Sofia Central Bus Station for Friday and Saturday.

"On an average day, 150 buses depart from here. They are all full, with purchased tickets, and therefore it is necessary to provide extra buses. This year, bus tickets are more expensive. For some destinations, the price increase reaches BGN 8, for others it is a little. For example, tickets that cost BGN 30-32, for travelling to Varna and Burgas, now coat BGN 38-40," said Ivan Miroslavov, executive director of the Central Bus Station.

This year, as in previous ones, the demand for bus tickets for Bulgaria’s winter resorts and the sea is the greatest.
