First exit polls: Terziev and Grigorova go to second round of voting in mayoral elections in Sofia, data for other major cities

Exit polls by "Gallup International" and "Alpha Research" as at 20:00 on October 29 show that Vassil Terziev of "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" - "Save Sofia" (WCC – DB – Save Sofia) and Vanya Grigorova of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will go to second round of voting in the municipal and mayoral elections in Sofia.

Election process proceeds to a second round if in the first round no candidate received 50%+1 of the votes cast. A second round of voting will be held on November 5 between the two candidates with the largest shares of the votes from the first one.

In Plovdiv, the battle for the mayor's seat next Sunday will be between Kostadin Dimitrov of GERB-UDF and Ivaylo Staribrotov, the candidate nominated by WCC-DB, according to Gallup International.

Ivaylo Staribratov (WCC-DB) - 22.4%

Slavcho Atanasov (United for Plovdiv) - 15.3%

Angel Georgiev ("Vazrazhdane") - 7.4%

Kostadin Palazov (BSP) - 6.9%

Voter turnout as at 8 pm 35.7%

VARNA

In the coastal city of Varna, Ivan Portnikh (GERB) and Blagomir Kotsev (WCC-DB) will go to the second round of voting next Sunday, according to Gallup International.

Ivan Portnih (GERB) - 26.9%

Blagomir Kotsev (PP-DB) - 26.9%

Kosta Stoyanov ("Vazrazhdane") - 18.5%

Hristo Dimitrov (Citizens' Alternative Coalition) - 8.6%

Pavel Ralichkov (BSP for Bulgaria) - 6.7%

Voter turnout was 41.5%.

STARA ZAGORA

GERB's Zhivko Todorov wins the mayor's seat in Stara Zagora, according to the exit poll by Alfa Research agency.

Iskra Mihaylova (Vazrazhdane) - 12.6%

Maria Dineva (Agrarian National Union) 11.5%

Dimitar Chorbadzhiev (WCC-DB) - 9.2%

Ivan Verlyakov (BSP) - 6.8%

Voter turnout was 40.7%

KARDZHALI

Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) candidate Errol Mümün won the elections in Kardzhali with 55.1%, according to Gallup International.

In Rouse, Pencho Ilkov and Ivan Ivanov are going to the run-off, according to the exit poll data by Alpha Research.

BLAGOEVGRAD

Independent candidate Ilko Stoyanov (supported by GERB and TISP) and Metodi Baikushev from WCC-DB have gathered the most support in Blagoevgrad and are going to the second round of voting next Sunday, according to data from Gallup International.

Metodi Baikushev (WCC-DB) - 24.5%

Nikolay Shushkov (independent) - 15.6%

Atanas Kambitov - 11.1%

Rumen Tomov - 5.1%

Voter turnout in the city was 57.5%.

HASKOVO

Stanislav Dechev and Nikolai Stavrev go to the second round of voting in Haskovo, it becomes clear from the Alpha Research exit poll.

Stanislav Dechev (GERB) - 42.1%

Nikolay Stavrev (backed by We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria, BSP and Here We Come) 22.0%

Georgi Ivanov (BULGARIAN VOICE) - 20.8%

Georgi Georgiev (Vazrazhdane) 8.5%

Ivan Ivanov (TISP) - 3.8%

Voter turnout as at 8 pm was 48.8%.

VELIKO TARNOVO

Daniel Panov and Yordan Terziyski go to the second round of voting in Veliko Tarnovo, according to Alpha Research exit poll.

Yordan Terziyski (WPP-DB) - 22.2%

Stilyan Naydenov ("Vazrazhdane") - 13.2%

Irena Stasinopoulou (BSP) -10.3%
