Five of the Bulgarian sailors from the hijacked ship "Ruen" returned to Varna
Five of the Bulgarian sailors from the ship “Ruen”, which was hijacked off Somalia in December last year, are back in Varna late on March 25. This was confirmed to BNT by the Bulgarian Navy.
The Bulgaria-owned and Maltese-flagged bulk cargo ship "Ruen" was freed by the Indian Navy 9 days ago.
The sailors arrived by flight from Oman via Turkey. Captain Alexander Kalchev, director of Navigation Maritime Bulgare (the owner of the Ruen), told BNT that they are suffering from stress and their families do not want to have media attention before they recover from the experience. The ship's captain has not yet come home. Most recent reports indicate the vessel is in Oman.
