Floods at Bulgaria's southern coast: Ahtopol, Varvara, Sinemorets and Rezovo are inaccessible, evacuation for all distressed persons in Lozenets, "Arapya" and "Nestinarka" campsites
The coastal town of Ahtopol, the villages of Varvara, Sinemorets and Rezovo are completely cut off due to destroyed bridges after the flooding on September 5. This is clear from a post on the Tsarevo municipality's Facebook page in relation to the decisions of the crisis management team. Evacuation of the campsites "Arapya", "Nestinarka" and the village of Lozenets is underway.
The crisis management team includes the mayor of the municipality and his team together with the director of the regional Directorate of the Ministry if Interior –Burgas; the director of the Regional Fire Fighting and Rescue Department-Burgas and representatives of the Regional Fire Fighting and Rescue Department - Tsarevo, "Border Police", police, gendarmerie.
The state of emergency continues on the territory of the municipality.
- Evacuation is organised for all persons in distress;
- Actions have been taken to drain Hadzhi Yane dam and continuous monitoring of Poturnashki dam. Currently there is no risk of dam failure;
- Arrangements are being made to transport the children living in the district of Vassiliko with high-capacity equipment from the kindergarten to their homes;
- At the moment, search is undertaken for 3 persons, who cannot be contacted and are reportedly injured.
Traffic of vehicles is stopped in the following areas:
- from police checkpoint Karaagach in the direction of Tsarevo municipality;
- on the road with. Sinemorets – town of Ahtopol;
- traffic of cars is stopped in the town of Tsarevo and the settlements.
Exceptions apply only to specialised vehicles.
The crisis management team calls on all residents and guests not to leave their homes, and if necessary to go to higher floors of buildings! Volunteer initiatives should not be undertaken at this stage because the situation is dire and dangerous. Volunteers will be needed at a later stage to overcome the consequences.
