GERB decides on Saturday about the support to the cabinet

GERB starts a detailed analysis not only of the election results. In the next few days the party will formulate its position whether it will remain part of the "assemblage" or not. ("assemblage" is frequently used to refer to the cooperation between the power holders in the government – WCC-DB and GERB-UDF).

For this purpose, the GERB structures in Sofia will meet today, November 8, the Executive Commission will meet tomorrow, and on Saturday the National Council of GERB will meet in Veliko Tarnovo. In the old capital will be present all elected mayors of municipalities, all regional heads of the party, as well as the parliamentary group.

The party is currently examining the governance of the cabinet, sector by sector and checking for weaknesses. GERB accuses the government of not keeping some of the commitments and deadlines set.

Party leader Boyko Borissov also commented on the issuance of new debt yesterday.

"We and our partners (in the government) have to be very clear about the lines that should not be crossed. Otherwise, we start to lose face, and we cannot afford that. Our basic principle is – we spend what we earn. This ensures stability and sustainability and is fair to the young people - not obliging them to pay our debts afterwards. Because a 3% deficit is a bad thing, taking on new debt is a bad thing. The lack of measures to reduce the deficit is a bad thing," Borissov said.
Earlier, GERB deputy chairman Tomislav Donchev and parliamentary group chairwoman Desislava Atanasova said they needed to see if there was a chance and opportunity for the government to do better.

"There is a topic in the group and it is not whether there is an agreement or not. Including, the main topic is not the behaviour of our non-coalition partner (referring to WCC-DB) during the local elections, although since yesterday our non-coalition partner is a member of a political family with which we have little in common. They are partners together with the MRF.

Is there an opportunity for this government to work better - that is the question," Donchev said.
Dessislava Atanasova pointed out that there are sectors of the government in which, at first reading, there is a persistent failure to implement the programme.

"Bulgaria's governance programme for this term is for 18 months. At the moment we are focused on whether all the commitments written in it by the executive and the legislature are being implemented. I believe that this analysis will continue for a few more hours, but on first reading there are sectors where there is a persistent failure to deliver on the commitments written down.
I don't want to announce specific sectors and ministries because we have decided that the chairs of the committees will invite the ministers responsible for the specific policies and where there is a definite delay and non-implementation, we will seek answers as to why this has happened," Atanasova said.

GERB assured that tomorrow they will be in plenary chamber because there are important laws that need to be adopted and they are responsible for the development of the country while deciding whether they will continue to support the government.
