GERB leader Borissov in Munich: Bulgaria is in a difficult period and the Bulgarian people trust GERB again

Bulgaria is in a difficult period and the Bulgarian people trusted GERB again. The voters put us in first place in October 2 elections, GERB leader Boyko Borissov said during a meeting with Markus Ferber, chairman of the Hans Seidel Foundation, on October 28.

Boyko Borissov is visiting Bavaria for the congress of the Christian Social Union (CSU).

"Yesterday, with a lot of effort, we managed to adopt in the National Assembly, on the initiative of the GERB-UDF Group, a decision to confirm Bulgaria's path to the euro - from 2024. On the opening day of the Parliament, we submitted a draft decision on giving military aid to Ukraine. Also on the opening day, we submitted a draft decision on 100% diversification from Russian gas and Russian nuclear fuel," Borissov said.

The GERB chairman commented that the problem with illegal migrants on the territory of the whole country is getting worse. In his words, they are everywhere and the problem is escalating.

When we were in government, the budget was in surplus, now the deficit reaches 7%. The external debt is now 35% and the new deficit reaches 15 billion and inflation rate is record high," said the GERB chairman, adding that at the same time Bulgaria is the EU's top producer of electricity, the largest producer of sunflowers and grain, and the military industry produces many times more than at other times.

Boyko Borissov and Markus Ferber expressed satisfaction with the joint work and highly appreciated the long-standing cooperation between GERB and the Foundation.

They identified new joint projects in the field of training and education of personnel, as well as the formulation of policies for the development of Bulgaria.

Ferber specified that part of the initiatives that GERB and the Hans Seidel Foundation will implement will be aimed at youth seminars and adapting management policies to current European dimensions.

The trainings will cover countering fake news and ways to tackle hate speech.

During the meeting, Borissov informed Ferber that GERB had covered the expenses of a group of children from Ukraine who were on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
