Gun shots fired at Bulgarian club in North Macedonia
An unknown person fired a gun last night (November 23) towards the Bulgarian club "Tsar Boris III" in Ohrid, BGNES reported on November 24.
No one was injured in the incident. Police officers arrived at the scene and described the damage from the shooting. According to unofficial information, a gun was fired from a car at the club. There were traces of the shooting on the walls inside the club and on the club's windows and signs.
The attack took place at around 21.00 Bulgarian time on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
The Macedonian Foreign Affairs Ministry condemned the attack on the "Ohrid Civic Club".
"It is worrying that these vandal incidents are repeated in a short period of time. Only a few days ago, on 20 November, we witnessed a similar vandal act when the outside glass of the club was broken. These are completely unacceptable events that can endanger lives and increase retrograde processes that are against the European integration of the country," the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in the statement.
The Republic of North Macedonia Ministry called on "the competent institutions to take the necessary measures to identify the perpetrators and to take the necessary measures to guarantee the work of this and all other civic clubs in the country."
According to the Republic of North Macedonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "all citizens of the country had the freedom to express their convictions and defend their rights, which are guaranteed by the Constitution of a worthy candidate country".
Journalist Vladimir Perev told BNT the attack was a disgrace for North Macedonia, but also for some parts of Bulgarian politics in North Macedonia.
This is yet another incident against the club. Just two days ago the windows were broken by three masked men who threw stones. The same happened at the official opening of the club.
The front door of the Bulgarian club in Bitola was set on fire three months ago, the attacker was detained and then released.
