Hazardous weather forecast for November 4 across the country, rivers and dams in Sofia will be under constant monitoring
A hazardous weather warning has been issued for tomorrow, November 4, in Bulgaria. Significant rainfall is expected in the western part of the country and strong winds in the eastern Bulgaria.
Because of the unfavourable forecast, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova ordered constant monitoring of river evels, municipal dams and cleaning of rainwater drains in connection with the expected heavy rainfall in the country tomorrow, the Sofia Municipality said on November 3.
The levels of the rivers and the municipal dams - Marmor, Merchaevo, Suhodol 2, Ivanyane 2, Obrescha 1 and 2 and Bratinskaya - will be monitored.
At the moment, the river levels are within normal limits and the normal conductivity of the water quantities is ensured, there is no risk of spills, the municipality said, adding that free water volumes are ensured in the municipal dams, Sofia Municipality said.
Emergency teams are ready to respond to signals and are carrying out field rounds, the municipality said, adding that districts should check the condition of river gorges in their territories. The teams of the Metropolitan Inspectorate control the companies responsible for cleaning streets and boulevards, as well as rainwater intakes.
Under the annual riverbed cleaning programme, 126 river sections have been cleaned, about 60 km of rivers. Activities are continuing in nine river sections, and another cleaning of all culverts on the southern arc of the Ring Road is underway.
