Head of Bulgaria’s Anti-corruption Commission has resigned

The head of Bulgaria’s anti-corruption commission, Sotir Tsatsarov, has resigned and leaves the post as of March 1, BNT sources learnt.

The anti-corruption commission on January 13 confirmed that Tsatsarov has resigned.

They added the resignation will be commented in the next days, after Tsatsarov files it to the Parliament.

Sotir Tsatsarov, previously Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor, was elected as Head of the Anti-corruption Commission on December 11, 2019. He replaced Plamen Georgiev, who resigned on July 31, 2019 following the controversy over the roof terrace of the block of flats where he lives and the same day Bulgaria’s Parliament voted to accept his resignation.
