What is new in the government policy is that until now we have been conducting research and testing on suspected and related people to Covid-19 patients. From now on, we begin mass testing to reach a much larger proportion of the population, Bulgaria’s Health Minister Kiril Ananiev said on April 15. Prime Minister Borissov and him together visited Bansko ski resort, where mass testing has started in the recent days.
We have 20,000 PCR tests. We also expect many deliveries and donations from Bulgarian and foreign citizens and organizations. Mass testing is the way to go, Ananiev said.
Prime Minister Borissov added that it is already underway.
The Minister of Health also announced the results of a report by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, which was released today. It states that, thanks to the preventive measures the country has taken and implemented, Bulgaria ranks first among the smallest number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people and third in terms of deaths per 100,000 people after Slovakia and Latvia.
