Helicopter joins fight against forest fire in Bulgaria’s Rhodope Mountains

A crew from the Air Force with an Mi-17 helicopter joined the battle against the forest fire in the area of Mount Veikata in the Rhodope Mountains on November 7.

Servicemen and equipment from the 31st Mechanized Battalion - Haskovo from the Second Mechanized Brigade took part this morning in the fight against the blaze.

A total of 32 servicemen and equipment operated in a difficult to reach area together with the teams of the Fire Safety and Population Protection Service - Kardzhali.

67 servicemen with specialised equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire that occurred in the area of the village of Mokren, Sliven region, where a mixed forest was engulfed.
