Inflation Rate in Bulgaria Is at 2.6% in April

The annual inflation rate in Bulgaria is reported at 2.6% at the end of April, according to data from National Statistical Institute (NSI) as at 15th of May.

Since the beginning of the year, the overall rise in the cost of living is at 1.5%. Prices of clothes and shoes increased by an average of 5.2%. Household bills and housing rents, and food and beverages have gone up on a monthly basis by almost 1%.

National statistics report unemployment of 6.9% for the first quarter of 2017. Thus, the number of unemployed reaches 224,000. Almost half of the jobless people have a secondary education. Unemployment rates among university degree holders is the lowest.

The average wage has increased. According to NSI estimates, the gross wage is already 1,036 BGN. The highest salaries remain in the information service sector, and the lowest in hotels and restaurants.
