INSAIT launches scholarship programme in mathematics and informatics
BGN 5.3 million have been allocated for preparation for Olympiads and competitions
"This is a historic event with the introduction of best practices in higher education," said Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, who participated in the official announcement of a new scholarship programme for the development of technology leaders of the Institute of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT).
The presentation of the programme was attended by the Minister of Education and Science prof. Galin Tsokov, the scientific director of INSAIT prof. Martin Vechev, the Rector of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" Georgi Valchev and the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Sofia University prof. Maya Stoyanova.
Prof. Vechev said that the initiative is unique.
"The scholarship programme aims to put our most talented children to develop here. The programme brings together the best in Bulgaria, such as the Faculty of Mathematics at SU, the INSAIT institute and to thank the business sector, which finances the programme with more than BGN 1 million, and the scholarships are BGN 17 thousand and include not only training, but also internships in high-tech companies".
Minister Tsokov pointed out that this is an example of building an ecosystem in which science, education and business connect.
"This year 5.3 million have been allocated for preparing children for Olympiads and competitions. We are considering a scholarship programme for youngsters who perform well in competitions to develop themselves in universities," the Education Minister said.
