Long queues of cars at Kulata border crossing with Greece

There is a long queue of vehicles at Kulata border crossing to enter Greece on June 18.

The queue of cars are kilometres long before the weekend, currently about 4km long and continues to grow.

Most of the people are going on holiday to Greece over the weekend. At the border, they have to wait between 3 and 4 hours on average to enter Greece.

The reason is the thorough inspections by the Greek side.

The other checkpoint on the territory of Blagoevgrad district, at the border with Greece is "Ilinden - Exohi". It is currently closed to cars.

That is why a meeting was held between the regional governors of Blagoevgrad, Kavala municipality and Drama.

Measures have been discussed for the re-opening of the Ilinden-Exohi checkpoint so that traffic during the summer season can be alleviated.
