Mass vaccination against Covid-19 in Bulgaria expected to begin in March

Mass vaccination against Covid-19 in Bulgaria is expected to begin in March.

How to get the vaccine?

Health insured people can seek the vaccine from their GP. GPs cannot refuse immunization.

The uninsured can also get a vaccine, but they should contact the relevant Regional Health Inspectorates.

When you contact your GP for the vaccine, you will receive a date and time, on which you be given the jab.

I call all patients to stick to the appointment and to arrive at the location on time, without delays, to avoid crowding, doctor Nikolai Branzalov, a representative of the Bulgarian doctors association told BNT breakfast show on February 16.

After the first doze of the Covid-19 vaccine, the GP will inform the patients on the date and time for the appointment for the administering the second dose. It is equally important for the patients to arrive on time at the location where they will receive the second dose.

Which vaccine to choose?

Bulgaria’s Ministry of Health has published shorts descriptions of each available vaccine. The information is published on the ministry’s website.

The currently available vaccines against Covid-19 are the ones developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna and Astra Zeneca.

GPs say they need more information in order to be able to answer all questions by patents regarding the vaccines. The doctors insist that the scientific community give them more specific answers on the vaccines and their effect in people with certain diseases and health conditions.
