Meeting with the President to discuss progress on construction of Greece-Bulgaria gas link
Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev on August 12 will hold a meeting with the management of the construction company that is building the gas interconnection with Greece.
The talks will be attended by caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev, as well as the caretaker ministers of energy and regional development. The main objective of the talks is for the builder - the Greek company “Avax” - to give a precise timetable for the completion of all construction works so that gas can flow through the 180-kilometre pipe.
The initial project envisages a capacity of 3 billion cubic metres per year. The project documentation envisages expanding the capacity to 5 billion cubic metres at a later stage. The main purpose of this gas link is at least to re-route the volumes of gas contracted from Azerbaijan that currently pass through the gas link to Petrich, but not in its full volume.
Also today, the energy regulator EWRC is expected to come up with a decision on th natural gas price for August. The public supplier Bulgarga had requested to increase the price of blue fuel in August by 60% or BGN 297 per megawatt-hour.
