Minister of Energy: Power supply has not yet been restored in about 590 settlements
"There are still villages with power outages, but the situation is improving," Energy Minister Rumen Radev told BNT on November 27. According to him, there are currently about 590 settlements across the country with electricity supply problems. He added that the problems are expected to be finally fixed within tomorrow.
"We had an extreme weather situation. The circumstances - wet and heavy snowfall in a short period of time with a combination of wind, resulted in an extreme number of fallen branches and trees, which damaged the grid," the Energy Minister added.
He clarified that more than 2,000 people are working on the ground.
More than 50 settlements in Dobrich district are without electricity for the second day.
"People's anger is understandable. The teams are doing their best. The emergency teams were duplicated, access to the damaged sites was impossible, not because of lack of high-terrain equipment. There are trees is close proximity to power lines. There is no way for volunteers to fix power and distribution line problems. In this type of conditions, there should be support from other services," Rumen Radev said.
