Minister of Interior: 89 Alerts of alleged vote buying received at the ministry
Caretaker Minister of Interior Atanas Ilkov on October 9 attended the meeting with President Radev and representatives of the institutions responsible for the preparation of the upcoming elections. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Innovation and Growth Rosen Karadimov, Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, representatives of the Central Election Commission and the state Agency for National Security (SANS).
According to the Minister, the Ministry of Interior is working much more actively and at a higher speed compared to the efforts made in the previous elections.
A total of 89 alerts related to vote-buying and selling have been received at the ministry, in comparison to the previous elections when the number of alerts was 85. 42 pre-trial proceedings have been initiated, compared to 40 for the same period before the previous elections.
The Ministry of Interior has issued 336 warnings, compared to 262 for the same period before the previous elections. There were 128 specialised police operations. The Ministry of Interior takes immediate actions to inspect every alert.
