Ministry of Education: Over a week, the number of students infected with Covid-19 has doubled
1348 school students tested positive at the beginning of this week - a double increase compared to the January 10 data, according to the Ministry of Education and Science on January 19. Cases are most concentrated in students from 5th to 7th grade – 486 cases.
The highest number of infected students is in the city of Sofia – 470, followed by the districts of Plovdiv - 130 and Blagoevgrad - 123.
The number of teachers who tested positive has increased by more than three-fold.
366 teachers tested positive from over 27,000. There is a double increase in the number of infected non-pedagogical specialists.
By redistributing the available tests, all the necessary quantities for the examination of the students on January 24 were provided.
Currently , most school students go to in-person attendance classes, despite the increase in the overall morbidity in the country, according to the Ministry of Education and Science.
This week, 82% of students study in in-person classes, according to the latest data from January 17. That's more than 569,100 students - about 1% less than last week.
The number of students in a class without being tested for COVID-19 is getting less. This is the right of everyone whose schools fall into municipalities with an incidence of less than 250 covid-19 cases per 100,000 people.
At the same time, the number of students with a green certificate is gradually increasing - over 59,600 of them already have a valid document for having had Covid-19, vaccination or the presence of antibodies, according to the Ministry of Education.
