The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and GERB on February 6 submitted a draft decision to the Parliament for the establishment of an ad hoc committee of inquiry into the facts and circumstances surrounding the activity of the murdered Martin Bozhanov , nicknamed “The Notary.
Due to the existence of allegations concerning the provision of an umbrella over the murdered person, it is imperative to clarify absolutely all the facts surrounding this case. If Bozhanov was indeed assisted - by whom and how? Evicence in the public domain suggest that suspicions of undue influence in the justice system are well-founded and should be investigated and verified in detail, the statement reads.
"We define as absurd the exerting of pressure on magistrates, the existence of a private club for magistrates, and the continued activity of property fraud, from which many Bulgarian citizens have suffered," the statement adds.
Earlier today, a signal to the acting Prosecutor General, containing the facts and circumstances disclosed by the NGO "Anti-Corruption Fund" in the air of national media and numerous publications, related to allegations of the existence of a "private club for magistrates" owned by Martin Bozhanov nicknamed "The Notary" was submitted the Chairman of the MRF parliamentary group Delyan Peevski.
According to Delyan Peevski, the publications contain sufficiently sensitive data that should be verified by the Prosecutor's Office to establish the objective truth and protect the public interest by bringing to justice if, in the course of the investigation, magistrates are found to have carried out criminal activity.
The chairman of the MRF PG calls on the Prosecutor's Office to conduct a prompt, adequate and complete investigation.

Martin Bozhanov was shot dead in a gated complex in Sofia’s suburb of Gorna Banya on the evening of January 31. According to media reports, he was involved in fixing people's problems with the judiciary. Five days after the murder of Martin Bozhanov - The Notary, new revelations emerged about the methods of influence in the judiciary. According to the Minister of Interior, Bozhanov actually acted as a mediator and solved and created problems for citizens with the judiciary.
The data gathered so far outlines the murdered Martin Bozhanov-as an influential figure - he acted as an intermediary.
"It was very easy for him to solve, but it was also very easy for him to create problems for various citizens with the judiciary", stressed Kalin Stoyanov - Minister of Interior.
Last week Nikolay Staykov, who is an investigative journalist and co-founder of the non-governmental Anti-Corruption Fund, said that Bozhanov was known in recent years as owner of a private club for magistrates in the capital's Geo Milev residential district, located near the now-closed Specialised Court. In an investigation, the Anti-Corruption Fund shows recordings of a series of conversations that reveal who the "enablers" are with influence in the judiciary.
According to the investigative journalist, the club was managed by the late Bozhanov and was used for informal relations with mid- and high-level magistrates. The access to the club was by only by card. For the moment, it remains a mystery which persons with influence in the judiciary have visited the club.
