Murder in Radomir: Man arrested on suspicion of beating his girfriend to death
A man has been arrested on suspicion of beating to death the woman with whom he was cohabiting.
The incident took place in Radomir (Pernik district, Western Bulgaria) and was reported to the authorities 30 minutes after midnight on Wednesday. Upon arrival, police discovered that an argument had broken out between the woman and her partner. Both are 56-year-old. The argument escalated into a beating of the woman. The forensic medics found that that the woman was hit multiple times on the head with a hard object, which led to her death.
As a result of the severe blows she died on the spot. The cause that provoked such brutal cruelty is not clear yet.
Neighbours said they had known the 56-year-old man for a long time. He used to work as a miner and now as a security guard in Sofia. He had been living with the murdered woman for some time. So far there have been no conflicts between the two.
"He is a pensioner. Had they been living together for a while? Since the spring. The woman was a shop assistant. We're all shocked we've known him since he was a kid. He wasn't polite to people," said a neighbour.
"We are neighbours. I found out about the incident this morning. They have been living for a while, in his house. He was a security guard. There was never a problem. We got up this morning and understood what happened. We're shocked," another neighbor said.
The 56-year-old man is in police custody. He is yet to be charged. He has no previous criminal record and no domestic violence reports have been filed against him. Details of the case are expected to be announced tomorrow by the Ministry of Interior and the Prosecutor's office.
