National statistics: 22% of the Bulgarians live below the poverty line

Some 22% of the Bulgarians live below the poverty line, which is 351.11 BGN per person.

The relative share of the poor in Bulgaria has decreased by almost 1.5% compared to 2017.

Nearly 21% of the population believe they live in material deprivation. Most people have difficulty paying the house-related costs such as mortgage, rent, electricity and water bills.

Indicators on poverty and social inclusion are part of the European Community's common indicators for tracking countries' progress in combating poverty.
