Nearly 10 tonnes of salmonella-infected chicken meat from Poland will be desroyed

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency stopped from the market and ordered for destruction 9,900 kg of Polish frozen chicken legs contaminated with salmonella.

All batches, which is nearly 10 tonnes, were placed under ban on arrival in Bulgaria until the results of the laboratory test were ready and were not allowed to trade on the Bulgarian market.

The sample for testing was taken during the intensified control that the BFSA exercises over all consignments of poultry meat and by-products of Polish origin intended for Bulgaria. The test result was obtained on April 7, 2021.

In accordance with the food law, a notification under the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has been prepared for notification to the competent Polish authorities.
