The co-leader of “Democratic Bulgaria” coalition Hristo Ivanov announced on November 15 that he has resigned as leader of the “Yes Bulgaria” party, which is a constituent party of the collation. The resignation comes following the poor result of Democratic Bulgaria coalition in the November 14 parliamentary elections.

In a statement on Facebook, Ivanov said that he was taking personal responsibility for the poor result and added that the party’s executive board was also resigning.

We continue to believe in “Democratic Bulgaria”, he said and added that the national council will give a mandate to the future parliamentary group of Democratic Bulgaria to enter into talks with “We Continue the Change” party, which according to the exit poll results have won the largest share of votes and if confirmed by the final election results would be first to receive a mandate to form a government.

Tough decisions are ahead of us, Democratic Bulgaria will be active in Parliament, it will comply with its place, with the necessary modesty and humility we will participate in the talks for forming a government, Ivanov commented.

According to the provisional results of the November 14 elections, Democratic Bulgaria was shown to have less than 6.% of the votes. In April regular elections, it had 9.45% and 12.6% in the July early parliamentary elections.
