NRA and SANS start checking the buffer parking lots at the borders

The National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the State Agency for National Security (SANS) will start on September 5 an inspection in connection with the problem with the buffer parking lots for heavy goods vehicles. Because of the tension at the borders, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev convened an urgent meeting at the Council of Ministers and ordered the checks so that the situation could be clarified in a short time and measures could be taken so that the border crossing could be normalised, the government press service said.

During the discussion, the importance of buffer parking lots in easing traffic around border crossings was highlighted. At the same time, however, additional steps are needed in places to reduce waiting times for heavy goods vehicles and to prevent attempts to violate the crossing order.

Deputy Transport Minister Dimitar Nedyalkov noted that similar problems to the current ones near Vidin had also occurred near Ruse. However, a solution has been found in Ruse and a way will be sought in the short term to apply this model to Danube Bridge 2. For this purpose, the ministry, with the assistance of the Vidin district governor, will hold an urgent discussion with the local authorities and the company that manages the parking lot near Vidin.

The meeting at the Council of Ministers was attended by the caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov, the Executive Director of the NRA Rumen Spetsov, the Director of the Border Police Anton Zlatanov, the Director of the Customs Agency Georgi Dimov.
