Operation against crypto company Nexo in Sofia (update)
An international operation against a large-scale scheme for financial crimes, money laundering and violations of international sanctions against Russia is currently underway in Sofia on January 12, BNT has learned. According to BNT sources, the company in question is Nexo: Antoni Trenchev is the co-founder and managing partner; Kosta Kantchev is the co-founder and executive chairman.
Prosecutors, investigators from the National Investigation Service and the State Agency for National Security (SANS) officials, along with foreign agents, have raided the Bulgarian offices of the company, which trades cryptocurrencies worldwide.
The company operated from the Bulgarian capital Sofia, and depositors were invited to invest in bitcoins and other types of cryptocurrencies, with promises for high returns.

The probe into the crypto company's activities in the country was launched after foreign security services detected suspicious transactions that were reportedly aimed at circumventing sanctions imposed by the European Union, the UK and the US on Russian banks, as well as on companies and citizens of the Russian Federation.
The company has presented a position paper to BNT, the full text of which can be seen here.
