Opposition leader: For us, this Parliament has no legitimacy
"For us, this government is exhausted. This parliament does not represent Bulgarian citizens, it has no legitimacy,” the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Kornelia Ninova, told journalists at a news briefing at the party headquarters on July 21.
Ninova's statement comes in connection with the no-confidence vote filed by the BSP against the "Borisov 3" cabinet on the grounds of failures against corruption, which was rejected by Parliament earlier today.
According to Ninova, the only reason for the BSP to remain in this Parliament is the accelerated adoption of the machine voting and then dissolution of the Parliament.
"Today's vote showed who is who, where he is positioning and which side he stands for," Ninova added, emphasizing the position of the MRF, which did not take part in the debate and, according to her, waited to see how the situation would develop.
We continue to support the protests, to demand the resignation of the government, Ninova was firm.
The BSP MP Kristian Vigenin and the MEP Petar Vitanov also took part in the briefing.
The two commented on today's news about the agreement on the EU budget for the next 7 years. They stated that Bulgaria will not receive the 29 billion euros announced by the prime minister, but a little over 24 billion.
"Resignations are the first condition. This includes the resignation of the government, the Chief Prosecutor. Then we have to think about how to change the system so that such things don't happen again. But there are no easy solutions," the deputy chairman of the BSP PG, Krum Zarkov, said.
"Obviously, the government is using the coronavirus situation for government use," Ninova said in response to a journalist's question as to why, despite permission from the health minister, the BSP rally would not be held in Buzludzha, but in front of the Council of Ministers.
"Since the beginning of the crisis, the government has been using the topic for party and political purposes," she added.
