On 30th of August, the legendary train "Orient Express" made a stop for 18th consecutive time in the North Bulgarian city of Rousse. Only once a year, the train runs on the route Paris – Istanbul. In Bulgaria, it makes a stop in two places - Rousse and the Black Sea coastal city of Varna.
90 passengers from around the world have paid between 7,000 and10,000 € to embark on the iconic train journey on Orient Express. However, for the first time this year, the passengers were not allowed to get off the train to have a chat with local residents due to increased security measures. 40 people staff look after the passengers.
The popularity of the train is due not only to the novels by Agatha Christie but also to the luxurious atmosphere and the first-class service.
The Belgian Georges Nagelmakers is considered to be the father of "Orient Express". The first journey began on 4th of October, 1883.
