Pass of the Republic closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall

Due to heavy snowfall, the Pass of the Republic was closed to traffic on February 5.

Cars are being diverted through Shipka pass, while heavy goods vehicles are waiting on the spot.

Due to deteriorating weather, Shipka Pass may also be closed to traffic.

The Pass of the Republic is a mountain pass in the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina) in Bulgaria. It connects Veliko Tarnovo and Gurkovo.

It is also known as Hainboaz Pass.
