"Pirogov" emergency hospital in Sofia closed its last COVID-19 ward
"Pirogov" emergency hospital in Sofia closed the last COVID-19 ward, the hospital said on its Facebook page on June 18.
In the midst of the second wave in November last year, Pirogov restructured the Second Clinic of Orthopedics and Traumatology in COVID-19 ward.
During the third wave of COVID-19, the wards became 12 with a total of 4️98 beds. Separately, there were 4 resuscitation sectors for the most seriously ill.
Even before the first cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria, “Pirogov” Hospital and the Clinic of Internal Diseases were prepared and in March 2020 they managed in hours to organize the treatment activities so that no one in need remained on the doorstep of the hospital.
"Fifteen months later, we continue to accept those severely affected by the coronavirus, and we hope that the day will soon come when the remaining 40 beds for COVID-19 patients will look like those in the pictures," the hospital said.
