PM Borissov from Brussels: Health and medicine more important than money

I am making great efforts to bring the positions of my friends from the North, the South and Central and Eastern Europe closer. I say this from the position of a country that is in the top three of the most financially disciplined countries, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on July 20 in Brussels, where talks between EU heads of state and government on the new European budget have been under way for four days now. The Prime Minister pointed out that the last talks took place early this morning and that bilateral and multilateral meetings and consultations continue.

Prime Minister Borissov reminded that Bulgaria is among the countries with the lowest external debt, stable fiscal reserve and until before the crisis caused by the pandemic of COVID-19 Bulgaria had economic growth for many years. Borissov pointed out that a few days ago, with the unanimity of the finance ministers, Bulgaria joined ERM II.

"I am convinced that precisely because of the Euroscepticism and because of how important it is for the EU to come out united after today, we will reach the necessary compromise on all sides," he said.

PM Borissov expressed his disappointment that the medical part of the pandemic and measures to overcome the pandemic were not commented. He insisted that a single medical protocol is needed not only for the EU countries, but also for Europe. Otherwise, according to Borissov, we can witness the same difficulties and tragic events that were present in the addresses of European leaders to their citizens at the beginning of the pandemic. "Health and medicine should be more important than money," he said.
