PM Borrisov comments on the arrest of Sergei Navalny

"The arrest of Alexei Navalny after his arrival in Russia violates his rights and threatens his security," Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov wrote on his official Facebook profile on January 18.

"In today's democratic world, it is extremely important that the voice of the opposition is not silenced," he added. Alexei Navalny was detained by authorities last night as soon as he landed in Moscow. This happened on his first return home 5 months after he was poisoned and almost killed with a neuro-paralytic substance under unclear circumstances.

World leaders, diplomats and human rights organizations in Europe and overseas have called on Russian authorities to release him immediately.
