PM Kiril Petkov: I am pleased to accept the invitation for questioning at the Prosecutor's Office, I have questions for them too

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and his chief of staff Lena Borislavova will be summoned to the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office. The reason is the meeting of the Prime Minister with the Chief Prosecutor, which took place on Friday.
The state public Prosecutor’s Office announced that during the meeting, PM Kiril Petkov pointed to Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev the names and nicknames of people who, according to the Prime Minister, are at the heart of economic crimes in the country, and against whom no necessary actions have been taken to seek criminal responsibility.
The Chief Prosecutor pointed out that the powers to detect crimes are in the executive branch and in particular in the Ministry of Interior. And if there is specific evidence, the Prosecutor's Office should be notified.
In order to clarify all the data presented during the meeting, Petkov and Borislavova will be invited to provide a complete list of persons named during the working meeting, as well as data, respectively, evidence of possible crimes or violations committed by these persons.
In connection with the information disseminated by the prosecutor's office regarding the meeting between Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev on Friday, a briefing was held at the Council of Ministers on February 7.
Today I was informed that the Chief Prosecutor invites me for an interview to disclose information that is publicly known, but which he would be happy to know from me further on the following cases, PM said.
I am pleased to accept the invitation and during this meeting I will have the following questions to the Chief Prosecutor, PM said.
Here are the main questions he intends to ask the Prosecutor's Office:
- What actions did the Prosecutor's Office take on the topic of "Mata Hari" after it was publicly known that there were gold bars and banknotes and Mr. Borissov said that he knew who Mata Hari was (referring to the photos, that were leaked to several Bulgarian media in June 2020, that allegedly showed the then PM Boyko Borissov sleeping in his bedroom with a handgun on his nightstand and photos of the same bedroom showing the nightstand drawer filled with wads of EUR 500 banknotes and gold bars.)
- Are there any additional investigations under the Magnitsky act and will charges be brought against Peevski, Manolev and Ilko Zhelyazkov?
- Is there a direct connection between the Bulgarina Development Bank loan and the fact that Peevski was a shareholder in “Bulgartabac” company
- Is there a connection between a loan from BDB and Mr. Gaitanski's lawyer and what steps has the Prosecutor’s Office taken to identify if that this loan was taken legally?
- What are the investigations into the case of the "Eight Dwarfs" and Petar Petrov, known as” Petyo the Euro”
- Is there a connection between construction companies and illegal dams, and a businessman known as "Taki"
- What steps have been taken in relation to “Barcelonagate” and the fact that the Spanish authorities have informed about money laundering
- Is there a connection between the cases in "Avtomagistrali" company and the bags of money, and GERB party
- Why public gas supplier “Bulgargaz” and Mr. Pavlov gave up the quantities of Azeri gas that could be delivered and so the mix for consumers could have been much cheaper
PM’s chief of staff, Lena Borislavova, announced that she had received a summons to appear for questioning on February 9 at 3 pm at the Supreme Prosecution Office.
The Prime Minister announced that the person, who was supposed to serve a summons, arrived in the Council of Ministers, but received a call not to serve it publicly today in front of journalists. I would be very glad to receive the summons in front of you, Petkov added.
