PM presents certificates to the first pilots of air ambulance helicopters in Bulgaria

The first six pilots who will perform emergency medical assistance operations by air will receive their certificates of airworthiness. They will be handed over by Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov in the presence of Transport Minister, Georgi Gvozdeikov.

The first emergency medical helicopter is expected to start operating in Bulgaria in the second half of February, 2024.

The machine will arrive in mid-January, but must pass an inspection and be entered in the aircraft register. Money has been provided from the budget for the construction of 21 hospital heliports. Currently, there are two such registered heliports - in Varna and Panagyurishte.

The first air ambulance helicopter will be based at the "Border Police" air base at Sofia Airport and will serve an area with a radius of 200 kilometers.
