Poll predicts a contested battle for second place between WCC-Democratic Bulgaria and "Vazrazhdane" in Oct 27 snap elections
According to a survey by Alpha Research, GERB-UDF coalition led by former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is forecast to be the first political force with 26.5%, followed by the reformist coalition "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) with 14.9%.
Bulgaria will hold early general elections on Sunday, October 27, which is the country's seventh vote in three and a half years.
“Vazrazhdane” party will be backed by 13.1% of voters, ranking third, with a small margin after the second with 0.7%.
Alliance for Rights and Freedoms is fourth with 7.9%, followed immediately by MRF-New Beginnings with 7.4%.
Sixth, according to the survey, is "BSP - United Left" with 7.2%.
Immediately after that and with the possibility of entering parliament are "There is Such a People" with 6.1%.
The turnout, according to the survey, is expected to be around 30%.
The data are from a survey by Alpha Research, conducted in the period 20-23 October, realized with its own funds, among 1,000 adult Bulgarians, collected through direct standardized tablet interview at the homes of the respondents.
"The battle for the second place between WCC-DB and "Vazrazhdane" continues, and both have some challenges that cannot be said to have been overcome during the campaign. The challenge remains for WCC-DB to win back those lost votes we measured in June, and for Vazrazhdane - they do have competition from “There is Such a People” and other political players, which puts them in a more difficult situation to report more significant results, more different. The two wings of the MRF - Ahmed Dogan's and Delyan Peevski's - are almost equal. “Alliance for Rights and Freedoms” has more undecided voters. That is, if they manage to make use of it, they will achieve better results. "MRF- New Beginnings" institutionally stands better, more mayors are on their side, which is a positive. It remains unknown what will happen with the vote abroad with them", sociologist from "Alpha Research" Pavel Valchev commented in the BNT’s breakfast programme on October 24.
