President concluded the consultations for possible formation of a new government. What follows?
The consultations with the head of state for the possible formation of a new government are over and now the President is to hand over the first mandate to the largest group in Parliament, GERB-UDF. They confirmed that they will propose a minority government and of responsibility. The arithmetic is already clear - if the Parliament’s second largest party, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), supports the first mandate, it does not provide the 6 MPs necessary. GERB-UDF has no agreements with MRF and will not shop around for MPs, GERB leader, Boyko Borissov, assured.
Despite having only 68 MPs, the largest political force will fulfil its intention - to propose a minority cabinet.
"The government we will propose will be entirely GERB's," said Boyko Borissov, the leader of GERB.
If the first and second formations support this government - six more MPs are still needed.
"There is no way that six people will come, unless some do it on purpose to have a government and we get fingers pointed at us," Borissov explained.
- BNT: It seems that you will propose a government with the clear knowledge that we are going to elections?
- Boyko Borissov: I will propose a government of responsibility. And if We Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria say they support it or a party with its face says it supports it, then we will avoid elections. I do not want a support from a number of PMs, but from a party. I don't shop around for MPs.
Nikolay Denkov said that We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria will be in opposition. Answering a BNT question, whether the coalition will be united he said:
“Of course it will be united. We will be in opposition to GERB and MRF. We will be active with regard to all issues that are related to Bulgaria's European development and the fight against corruption.
There is no reason to believe that there will be a division in the group. We see attempts at intrigue from all sides, Denkov said.
