President on the proposal for termination of Lukoil concession: It is yet another rushed and incorrect statement by WCC
President Rumen Radev described the thesis of "We Continue the Change" that the caretaker government had extended the concession of Lukoil at Rosenets oil port by 24 years as yet another rushed and wrong statement. Radev reminded that the concession was signed by Boyko Borissov's cabinet for a period of 35 years.
WCC-DB proposed that the state regain control over Rosenets oil port, currently used by Lukoil
The President said that the concession was granted by the government of Boyko Borissov.
"Who gave the concession of the port - the government of Boyko Borissov, for 35 years. The caretaker government did not extend the concession, it is in place for another 24 years. The former caretaker government did not terminate it because at the time it was fighting the cosmically high fuel prices brought by the four-party coalition. The same political leaders," Radev explained.
It is yet to see whether this proposal is a result of corporate interests or a crisis PR, added Radev.
"To quickly forget who brought us the intermediaries for 30% more expensive Russian gas, Gemcorp; who did not move the registration of Lukoil during the regular government from Switzerland to Bulgaria. The caretaker government did what regular governments should have done. The caretaker government collected BGN 180 million in taxes from Lukoil in five months, twice as much as all regular governments did in 15 years," the President added.
Radev also said that he hoped the government had done its assessment well on how this decision would affect the price of fuel.
“I hope that they did a risk assessment of what is behind the port because there is a large logistics base, which belongs to Lukoil. How will the port operate with this logistics base, without which the transportation of oil to the refinery is impossible," Radev said.
