President Radev: Bulgaria resists unprecedented migration pressure
The Bulgarian state has mobilised all available resources to resist the unprecedented migration pressure at the border, President Rumen Radev said in a telephone conversation with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer on December 2.
The Head of State noted that the influx of migrants to Bulgaria has increased many times compared to last year.
Radev stressed that despite the workload and exhaustion of the officers guarding the border, they are coping with the constant pressure. He said that in order to counter the flow, the state has sent support patrols and technical means, additional law enforcement officers have been deployed, as well as Bulgarian military personnel.
"Our country is grateful for the support of the European Union. However, we expect recognition of the achievements and solidarity from our European partners through Bulgaria's accession to Schengen without further delay," Rumen Radev said.
