President Rumen Radev will not withdraw his decree proposing the National Assembly to elect as Prime Minister the candidate designated by the parliamentary group he handed the mandate to, the Presidency’s press office said late on March 19.

"In accordance with the Constitution, upon receiving a fulfilled exploratory mandate to form a government, the President issues a decree proposing that the National Assembly elect the candidate proposed by the relevant parliamentary group as Prime Minister. The decree of the Head of State under Article 99 has no bearing on either the structure or the composition of the Council of Ministers, and it is the explicit responsibility of the Prime Minister-designate to propose the cabinet line-up to Parliament for a vote."

Earlier today, “We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria” called on Radev to withdraw the document and on Parliament Speaker Rosen Zhelyazkov not to include a voting on a cabinet line-up as an item on the parliamentary agenda.

WCC-DB call on President Radev to withdraw the decree for a cabinet vote

At a press conference earlier today, WCC-DB said that the draft cabinet proposed by Mariya Gabriel had not been coordinated with them. Almost all of the nominated ministers from the quota of WCC-DB recused themselves by declaring that they did not want to participate in this cabinet.
