Price of electricity predicted to rise by 1.39%, price of heating to drop by 8.44%

The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) forecasts an increase in electricity prices by 1.34% on average from 1 July and cheaper hot water and heating by 8.44% on average. Final decisions will be taken at the end of the month. The utilities regulator will hold an open meeting next week to discuss the predicted price changes.

According to the information on electricity prices published by the EWRC - the most serious price increase is for customers in Western Bulgaria - 2.74%. The daytime tariff increases by 2.72% and the night tariff by 2.81% respectively. In Southern Bulgaria, the average increase is forecast to be 1.46%, with the night tariff increasing more seriously – by 2.54%.

In Northeastern Bulgaria, the electricity price will be reduced by less than 1%. The daytime tariff will go down by 0.91% and the night tariff by 0.86%. Despite the reduction, electricity prices in the region remain highest for the daily tariff.

EWRC foresees the most serious reduction of heating and hot water prices in Bourgas - by 14.09% on average. For Sofia the reduction is 7.02%, and for Plovdiv nearly 8%.
