Prof. Iva Hristova: No other outbreaks of meningitis found
There are no other outbreaks of meningitis, no room for panic. The children from the other groups in “Magic” kindergarten who were in contact with the child who died of meningitis two days ago have all been examined. All contact children were proven to be healthy carriers, so serious anti-epidemic measures were taken. The positive samples were detected by PCR, Prof. Iva Hristova, the Head of the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseas, told BNT on December 3.

According to her, in childhood bacterial meningitis can very rarely lead to severe symptoms.
"All vaccines that exist to protect children's health are recommended. In general, meningitis affects the upper respiratory tract. This is a rare disease, it should be addressed," said Prof. Iva Hristova.
