Prof. Kantardzhiev: Covid-19 epidemic in Bulgaria is subsiding
The new coronavirus epidemic in Bulgaria is subsiding, but the autumn viruses will begin circulating in late September, the Head of the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Disease,s Professor Todor Kantardzhiev said in a television interview on BNT breakfast show on August 31.
He said that pupils should return to classrooms in accordance with the rules announced by the Education Ministry, with the exception of those few children
Kantardzhiev said that after nine months, there was a lot of data about the new coronavirus, and that there was no place for unnecessarily escalation of tensions.
Children could not be left without education or people without jobs because of such a pandemic, he said.
Hospitals had learnt how to provide better treatment. “If we had such an increase in the winter, the cases by now would have been 10 times more,” Kantardzhiev said.
He added that an American fast test for coronavirus will be delivered soon and said that the test produces reliable results.
In the recent days, the epidemic in Bulgaria is subsiding. The higher number of deaths was typical for the period in which an epidemic is subsiding, he said.
