The District Prosecutor's Office in Sofia on 27th of August pressed charges against Grigor Grigorov, the driver of the fatal bus crash, in which 16 people died. He is accused in committing a crime under Art. 343 of the Penal Code. Grigorov is detained for 72 hours. At present, the detention is carried out in hospital where Grigorov is undergoing treatment.
He is accused that on 25th of August, in the town of Svoge, on road 2 -16, driving a MAN bus, on the Svoge - Sofia road, he violated the road traffic rules referred to in Art. 21 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act: "When choosing the speed, the driver of a vehicle is forbidden to exceed 40 km / h, signaled by road sign B26" and recklessly caused bodily injury to more than one person and the death of more than one person and the case is particularly severe.
By order of the Chief Prosecutor, the investigation was assigned to the National Investigation Service.
Additional inspection at the scene of the accident will be conducted today. At the same time, investigators are seizing relevant documents from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Road Infrastructure Agency, Automobile Administration Agency and the company which repaired the road section.
