Protests in Bulgaria: A weekend marked by new protesters' camp and two traffic blockades

Late Saturday night protesters built a new camp at the intersection at Sofia University. It happened as women of "The system kills us", a NGO of mothers with handicapped children, tried to break the police cordon and continue with their bus towards the next intersection - that of Orlov Most where one of the first protesters camps was situated. Mothers stopped the bus in front of the university building and vowed to stay there as long as they are allowed to reach Orlov Most.

Two more blockades were organized across the country on key motorways - the one leading to the seaside and the other - to Greece. Protesters chanted the same slogans: "Borissov, step down from power!" and "Geshev, resign!".

Last Wednesday demonstrators in the capital pitched tents at two emblematic sites of the city urging others to join them in protest against the conservative cabinet and insist on PM Borissov's and Prosecutor-General Geshev's resignation.

On Sunday groups of people gathered at Nezavissimost square in front of the Council of Ministers' building for their 25th day of protests. At 9.30 pm they started their march around the city and blocked several intersections in the course of it.

Police say those blockades were taken off soon after 11.00 pm. No other violations of order have been established.

Monday morning the three camps remained still on site. Police appealed to protesters to respect other citizens' rights and freedom of movement to visitors of Sofia.
