Radostin Vassilev leaves WCC-DB group, released recordings of meetings of the co-leaders

MP Radostin Vassilev leaves the parliamentary group of “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” (WCC-DB) because he does not agree with a government with GERB. He announced this at a special press conference on May 26.

Radostin Vassilev denied having made recordings of the talks on forming a government of the groups at the headquarters, as Kiril Petkov told the media yesterday. According to Kiril Petkov, Radostin Vassilev was used as a weapon of the security services and the deep state due to his emotional instability after the request for the removal of his immunity.

“We Continue the Change” leader, Kiril Petkov, told reporters last night, May 25, that politicians from “We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria” (WCC-DB) were recorded during working meetings by the coalition's MP Radostin Vassilev. Behind this are the security services, the "deep state", aiming at the failure of a future government, Petkov further said. The revelations came ahead of Vassilev's press conference scheduled for today, May 26, at which WCC-DB said he would release fabricated recordings.

He talked about eavesdropping on politicians from both parties during working meetings in Parliament and at meetings of the WCC's National and Executive Councils in the party's offices.

"The wide range points to the use of wiretapping in our headquarters and in the Parliament building, excerpts from video chats and phones. This was done by the services and the deep state to destabilize and derail the talks on cabinet formation," Petkov said.

"The services know that if a government is formed, we will change their leaderships and will carry out deep reforms aimed to root out the captured people, staff members and departments," he also said. Likewise, the prosecution service knows that if the latest legislative amendments are adopted, it may be "purged of the deep backstage".

Radostin Vassilev today released to journalists a recording he claims was from the online broadcast of the National Council of "We Continue the Change" last Sunday. In it, Kiril Petkov explains that they will "wash out" Boyko Borissov; that the government is synchronising with the embassies; that EC President Ursula von der Leyen has said that the eurozone rules will be circumvented. Also - "as long as Boyko is afraid of Geshev there will be a government".

Radostin Vassilev announced that the National Council lasted 4-5 hours and this is the only recording he made. Also - according to him, Kiril Petkov will lose the trust of the voters, and Vassilev himself decided days ago not to support a coalition government and to leave the group of WCC-DB.

Radostin Vassilev stressed that he has no desire to be a minister in the government with GERB.

The former “There is Such a People” breakaway also said that he wanted to reassure Kiril Petkov that there were no recordings from bedrooms and apartments.

Radostin Vassilev described the claims that recordings were made in the group as "complete lies".

"No one made such recordings either in the group's room or at the headquarters. This is not true. Mr Petkov was quite frightened by other recordings, which I do not have. I did not vote for Rosen Zhelyazkov (Parliament Speaker) because I cannot vote for a representative of GERB. We will probably see a coalition government in a few days," Radostin Vassilev further said and stressed that there is an alternative.

Radostin Vassilev explained that totally diametrically opposed projects in some mysterious form, which he described as a "deep state", are gathering structures that have no common interests, with a behind-the-scenes purpose.

"We have spoken dozens of times with Kiril Petkov that no GERB representatives would be allowed in a cabinet. But now there will be ministers, deputy ministers, and district governors from GERB. The truth is very ugly and costs the end of the existence of WCC-DB as a project," noted Radostin Vassilev and presented an online recording of the National Council of "We Continue the Change".

"This is not a secret recording. The real behind-the-scenes is the coalition between GERB-UDF and WCC-DB, which I deeply hope will not happen. Petkov is either being held with something or he is very greedy," Vassilev said.

The recorded conversation between Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev (WCC co-leaders) makes it clear that some of the future key positions – State Agency for National Security, Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, National Service for Protection, are approved by the embassies.

"Borissov said today that he does not want to have a Prosecutor General. We can pretend to be interesting on TV about gentlemen's agreements," Kiril Petkov says in recorded conversation.

Radostin Vassilev announced that he had a security guard since last night, as he had received a call from SANS.

"There is Such a People" are some 11 people who unquestioningly support GERB and are ready to do anything to participate in power. A coalition is about to be formed between "We Continue the Change", "Democratic Bulgaria" and GERB. I cannot support such a coalition, I will vote against it and I will leave the parliamentary group of WCC-DB because this is a betrayal of a huge part of the Bulgarian voters who voted trust in "We Continue the Change", added Radostin Vassilev.

In his words, WCC should have been the only barrier to GERB's bid for power.

"This dance will grow into a hug of interests. WCC are interested in consuming the executive power at any cost with a million excuses - the constitutional reform is a delusion, the probability of no budget too," Radostin Vassilev added, noting that there is a backroom deal.

Radostin Vassilev was Minister of Sport from “There is Such a People” party in the Kiril Petkov cabinet, but split from the party at the end of the 47th Parliament.

At the end of April, Sofia City Prosecutor's Office proposed to the Chief Prosecutor to ask the Parliament to lift the immunity of Radostin Vassilev from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria” coalition for threatening MP Hristinka Ivanova to leave TISP group and join the defectors in the 47th National Assembly.

Radostin Vassilev gave a press conference in relation to the agreement between WCC-DB and GERB-UDF to form an expert government with a Prime Minister on rotational basis. Vassilev announced the press conference on social networks yesterday with the call "Court and prison for Boyko Borissov and the robbers of Bulgaria!".

According to WCC-DB, Vassilev is preparing to release fabricated recordings of conversations with WCC-DB MPs at the press conference. Last night, the co-chairman of "We Continue the Change" Kiril Petkov said that the security services, the "deep state", were behind this in order to fail a future government.
