Record single-day spike of 436 new coronavirus cases in Bulgaria
This is the first time since the start of the epidemic that Bulgaria topped its record for coronavirus cases in a 24-hour period.
The newly confirmed cases of coronavirus in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours are 436 from 5,431 PCR tests, data published on the National Information Portal on coronavirus shows on October 7.

The largest number of new cases was reported in Sofia city (135) and Plovdiv (40), followed by Bourgas (38) and Blagoevgrad (35).
The total lab-confirmed cases in the country since the start of the epidemic is 22,306.

Of the total, 971 patients are in hospitals, 57 of them being in intensive care.
Over the past 24 hours, 131 recoveries were registered. The total recoveries are 15,310.
The medical professionals who tested positive for the virus are 1,237, including 35 new cases over the past 24 hours: 22 doctors; 9 nurses, 2 healthcare assistant and 2 other medical staff.
Eight Covid-19 related deaths were reported over the past 24 hours, thus bringing the total deaths to 862.
